Get away from it all! Experience the wilderness and wonder of West Virginia on a less traveled path. We're not your typical commercial campground! Drink in the beautiful views of the Gauley River gorge and hike the nature trails on our property while experiencing the sights and sounds of a real working farm. While The Gauley River Wild & Woolly Primitive Campground might have "primitive" in the name, don't let that fool you. We've grown to provide a total of 8 sites on our farm for camping with a site suited for every camping style! Two sites in our main field accommodate both campers and small RVs (up to 35') as well as tent and vehicle camping. Three sites are drive-up tent and vehicle camping only and two sites are tent only. One tent-only site has a 3-minute hike and the other has a 20-minute hike to the top of the mountain for incredible night skies! All sites are spaciously separate from one another where you'll feel you're the only campers here. And there are plenty of amenities! Perfect for couples who want to get away from it all, or for families or groups of friends with different camping styles who want to reconnect and catch up. Open March through November.
GAULEY RIVER WHITEWATER SEASON (SEPT. 3 - OCT 19, 2024)
During the Gauley whitewater season, site camping is discontinued and festival-style camping in our main pasture field begins. Reservations are not required and none will be taken. It's a first-come, first-served basis, but we've never turned anyone away because there was no room. We would appreciate a heads-up if you'll have a super late arrival (anything after 11 p.m.). See Gauley Whitewater Season page for more info.
